Ward hails players' effort

Colchester manager John Ward has saluted his players for keeping their season alive. The Us are still in with a slim chance of making the play-offs following Saturday's 1-0 victory over Rochdale. They are currently six points adrift of sixth-placed Bournemouth with five games remaining and Ward is delighted with his squad's focus. "I've got a very professional and thorough group of people here and there was never any chance of us drifting off and thinking of our holidays," said Ward. "We've not been consistent enough to be in the top six for any length of time but we've always tried our hardest and that was the same again."
