Ward hails flying Vincent

Colchester manager John Ward was quick to praise winger Ashley Vincent after he instigated nine-man Exeter`s downfall with a rousing display in the 5-1 win. The Grecians had taken the lead through Daniel Nardiello, but Steven Gillespie equalised for the home side. Steve Tully was sent off nine minutes before the break for fouling Vincent and denying a goalscoring opportunity and Exeter were reduced to nine men with 20 minutes left when Scott Golbourne was dismissed for fouling Vincent in the area. David Mooney converted the resulting penalty, Vincent pounced on Lloyd James' pass to make it 3-1 and barely a minute later, Gillespie converted from Andy Bond's pass for 4-1. Bond struck a fifth from close range with four minutes to go. Ward said: "It was a good day for us and we`ve got to enjoy it. I enjoyed it as much as the supporters did and it's a massive reward for everybody's patience. "Ashley Vincent's pace was a major thorn in their side and they found it difficult to deal with him. When Ashley is on his game like that, teams find it very difficult to deal with him. He has shown his quality and his strength, certainly in our last two matches."
