Ward eyeing promotion
Colchester manager John Ward hopes Saturday's 5-1 thumping of Exeter can reignite his side's play-off bid.
The Us slipped out of the promotion picture on the back of a recent four-match losing streak, but they have now won back-to-back home games to raise hopes of a successful climax to the season.
Steven Gillespie scored twice as nine-man Exeter were put to the sword to leave Colchester six points behind sixth-placed Bournemouth.
"We've kept saying to them do the things that we believe in and there will come a time and it's a big reward for everybody," Ward told the Daily Gazette.
"It's a massive confidence boost for us."
