Ward `absolutely delighted`

Colchester boss John Ward was more than happy to come away from Southampton with a point after United`s goalless draw at St Mary`s. U`s keeper Mark Cousins had to be at his best to deny Rickie Lambert on more than one occasion, although Colchester almost snatched a winner when Ashley Vincent saw his shot smothered by Saints keeper Kelvin Davis. Ward said: "Before the game I would quite happily have settled for a point. "Southampton are a good club and a good team with a good manager and I'm absolutely delighted with the point. "We had to defend very strongly and in the second half it was virtually 45 minutes of defending, although we could and should have nicked it at the end. "Rickie Lambert is always a danger from set-pieces but we did our homework and I have got two fantastic keepers fighting for a place, Mark Cousins is just ahead at the moment."
