U's go `soft' on Slade

Colchester manager John Ward was disconsolate as his side slipped to 11th place in the table after a 4-2 defeat at Leyton Orient, but was full of praise for Russell Slade's side. Goals from Jimmy Smith, Alex Revell, Paul-Jose M'Poku and Jonathan Tehoue secured a fifth home league win of the season for Orient and although Colchester replied through Anthony Wordsworth and Ian Henderson in the second half, Slade's side were worthy winners. Ward said: "We had only conceded seven goals away from home before and now we go and concede four in one match. All credit to Leyton Orient, I take nothing away from them because they capitalised on our shortcomings. "But I feel very disappointed and surprised because I hadn't previously seen that type of performance my players put in. "I thought it was a soft performance from us and it was chalk and cheese from our display against Charlton two days ago and the one here. "In comparison, we looked really flat out on the pitch. That's probably the softest performance my team has put in this season and that's why I'm surprised."
