Dunne has linked-up closely with Boothroyd and his assistant John Ward, having been caretaker of the U's after Paul Lambert's shock departure. He told the Daily Gazette: "Being involved with the manager and John (Ward) has been a fantastic experience in the short time I've worked with them. "I'm trying to gain as much knowledge as I can off them and it's been phenomenal over the past two weeks. "As long as I can use whatever knowledge I get and pass it on to the players I work with, that's the main thing." Dunne added: "Being caretaker manager has given me a completely different outlook on football. It's great for me and I hope now that I take the opportunity I have to develop as a coach."
