Us boss enjoys champion display

Colchester manager John Ward was delighted to see his side match the champions after the 1-1 draw with Brighton. Ian Henderson put the Us ahead in the 17th minute, but a laboured Albion claimed a share of the spoils through Ashley Barnes' second-half volley. "We gave a good account of ourselves," said Ward. "We've had a lot of good games at home this year and that was another one. "We played the champions and they are a very good team, as we've seen. We tried to give them a good game and pass it around and I think we did that. "We both had opportunities to win it but all in all, I'm really pleased with how my team set up and went about it. "Brighton are already champions and they maybe had a carefree attitude but I don't know - I'm not responsible for them. What I do know is that we were right up for the game and we knew that the game was going out live on TV."
