Thomas in Us trial
Colchester have handed a trial to former Crystal Palace striker Simon Thomas.
The 25-year-old made just one appearance in 18 months for the Eagles and was released last month.
Thomas has since signed for Billericay Town but the non-League club have given Colchester permission to run the rule over him.
He made an instant impression with two goals in a 5-1 win for the Us reserves against Essex neighbours Southend on Wednesday afternoon.
