Platt returns to boost Colchester
Platt has missed the last three games through suspension following his red card against Leyton Orient in the Carling Cup earlier this month.
Scott Vernon is likely to step aside if Dunne opts to put Platt straight back into his starting line-up.
Full-back Lee Beevers will miss the game after suffering a dislocated shoulder during last Saturday's defeat at MK Dons.
Beevers is awaiting the results of a scan to determine whether he needs an operation, so Alan Maybury will start at right-back.
Steven Gillespie (hamstring), Jamie Guy and Paul Reid (both knee) are still missing but David Perkins will be considered despite handing in a transfer request last week.
