Pirates set to sign U's defender

Baldwin impressed during a recent loan spell with Rovers and Higgs expects the 27-year-old to return to the club in the near future.[LNB]Higgs told the club's official website: "We have almost finalised negotiations with Colchester about bringing Pat Baldwin to the Memorial Stadium on a permanent basis.[LNB]"The next step will be agreeing personal terms with the player, but we hope to see him in the squad for our next home match against Hartlepool in just over a week's time, or ideally the squad that travels to Huddersfield on Tuesday."[LNB]Higgs is also hopeful that midfielder Chris Lines, who has been linked with a move to Cardiff, will sign a new deal before long.[LNB]He added: "We are still waiting to hear back from Chris Lines and his agent after offering him an improved deal last week, we hope this will be successfully concluded in the very near future."[LNB][LNB]
