Mooney fitness boost

David Mooney could be fit for Colchester's clash with Sheffield Wednesday despite leaving the field on a stretcher in midweek. The on-loan striker scored two goals in Tuesday night's 3-0 Carling Cup win at Hereford but was carried off with an ankle injury in the closing stages. However, having briefly returned to parent club Reading for treatment, Mooney was hoping to resume training on Friday ahead of the visit of the Owls. Midfielder Andy Bond also came off at Edgar Street with a knock but he too could be available. Goalkeeper Ben Williams is expected to miss out again with an ankle problem so Mark Cousins keeps his place. Midfielder John-Joe O'Toole and defender Morten Knudsen are long-term absentees with knee injuries.
