Lambert pleased by U's progress

Clive Platt capitalised on a defensive mistake by the Latics to score the only goal of the game and fire the Us up to 10th in the table, just seven points off a play-off spot. Lambert, who took over a team languishing in the relegation places when he became boss in October, said: "I'm delighted and it's amazing what we have done since I came to the club. "We were right down there but now we are in a decent position and can hopefully go on a run. "We were excellent in the first half and should have been out of sight but it was never going to be easy while Oldham were still in the game. "They put us under pressure in the second half, which was always going to happen, but we defended very well."
