Hall lands Us role

Colchester have appointed Richard Hall as the club`s new development coach. Hall`s role within United`s coaching staff will be to help progress the club`s young players through the youth ranks and in the early years of their professional careers, similar to the one currently undertaken by assistant boss Joe Dunne who will now find more time to support manager John Ward. Ward told the club`s official website: "We have a number of young players such as Tom Bender, Michael Rafter and Sam Corcoran, along with the second year youth-team players, who I think need extra work and time spent working with them." "It will allow Joe and I to have time to concentrate on the senior level and allow us to go out and watch players or upcoming opponents." Hall, who has spent the past year with the Us` centre of excellence, will also be in charge of reserve-team fixtures. Elsewhere, Colchester`s Carling Cup second-round trip to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland has been scheduled for next Tuesday, 7.45 kick-off.
