The Colchester striker is currently training at Vale Park with a view to a loan deal and got his name on the scoresheet against Kidderminster on Saturday in what was only his second outing for the club. Guy, 22, linked up with Adams during his six-month stint as assistant manager at Colchester back in 2007/08 and would relish the chance to play under him once again. "I'd love to come in on loan," admitted Guy in The Sentinel. "I know Micky from when I was at Colchester and I have always got on well with him. I'm just taking things one step at a time and hopefully this can be a bit of a springboard. "Micky is honest and tells you how things are. If you're not doing things right, he'll pull you aside and tell you it's not good enough. Sometimes, you need that rather than just plodding through." Meanwhile, Vale have been handed a bye into the second round of this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy, one of 16 clubs who will not compete in the opening stage.
