Vernon joined the Gills in a loan deal in October but was injured just 40 minutes into his debut against the MK Dons and returned to the Essex club prematurely.[LNB]But the 26-year-old is now fully fit and Gills boss Stimson wants to bring him back to Priestfield in a permanent deal, although he faces competition for the former Blackpool man's signature.[LNB]Stimson told the club's official website: "He would be a good addition and could be a long-term signing if we can sort something out with Colchester.[LNB]"There are four clubs interested in him at the moment so it's the player's decision to make. He's played a reserve game now and he came through that without any problems.[LNB]"We know he's interested so we've got a good chance but now it's up to him to make a decision."[LNB]Gillingham are just two points above the relegation zone and have won just one of their last nine League One games.[LNB][LNB]
