Gillespie eyes starting role

Steven Gillespie is pushing for his first start of the season when Colchester travel to promotion rivals Huddersfield. The striker, Colchester's record signing, put an injury-hit campaign behind him when he scored twice as a substitute in last week's 2-1 win over Bournemouth. Boss John Ward could also add recent signings Conor Powell and Matthmas Vilhjalmsson to his squad now that they have a weeks' training under their belts. Ben Coker made his full debut at left-back against the Cherries and looks set to keep his place after an impressive display. Defenders Magnus Okuonghae, Brian Wilson (both ankle) and Morten Knudsen and midfielder John-Joe O'Toole (both knee) are still on the sidelines.
