Cowling calms financial fears

Colchester chairman Robbie Cowling has dismissed fears of financial trouble at the club. Accounts for the year ending September 2009 show the Us made a loss of nearly £3.5million after their first season at the Community Stadium. But Cowling insists the figures are nothing to be concerned about. "The figures should not come as a surprise to anyone, when they consider the massive investment that has been required to move into a new stadium, fit it out, invest in new systems like ticketing and retail, sort out the numerous teething problems, buy a training ground and compete for promotion," he told the Gazette.
