Cousins aiming to keep place

Colchester keeper Mark Cousins is determined to keep his place in the starting line-up despite admitting his extended run in the first team was unexpected. The U's stopper has found opportunities few and far between in recent seasons but, following an injury to Ben Williams, he has been an ever-present this term. The 23-year-old has now played in nine consecutive games, beating his previous longest run of eight games, and wants to extend that run further still. "I'm very pleased with way the season has gone so far," he told the Daily Gazette. "I would never have expected to have got a run of nine games at the start of the season. "Unfortunately for Ben (Williams) he's been injured and now he's fit again there's even more competition now, so it's up to me to stay in the team."
