Injured Tom Eastman still sidelined for Colchester

Colchester are expected to again be without defender Tom Eastman because of an ankle injury for the visit of Stevenage.

Cole Kpekawa looks set to continue in defence while new loan signing Kyel Reid could also retain his place, having impressed in a left wing-back role during the midweek Carabao Cup tie against Aston Villa.

Scottish midfielder Craig Slater and forward Denny Johnstone are pressing for a recall having started on the bench against Villa.

Kurtis Guthrie (ankle), Doug Loft (back), Brennan Dickenson and Luke Prosser (both knee) all continue their rehabilitation.

Stevenage could hand a debut to Jonathan Smith.

The midfielder joined on a free transfer during the week after his contract at Luton was terminated.

Matt Godden and Chris Whelpdale came into Darren Sarll's side for their Carabao Cup first-round defeat to Millwall on Tuesday and the pair will be hopeful of retaining their places.

New signing Blair Turgott came off the bench in that game to make his Boro bow and the former West Ham youngster will be pushing for his full debut this time out.
