Sears worry for U's

Freddie Sears is a fitness doubt for Colchester as they prepare for the visit of fellow strugglers Shrewsbury.

The U's striker was forced off with a hamstring problem during Saturday's defeat at Crawley and will be assessed ahead of kick-off.

Colchester were boosted by the return of leading goalscorer Jabo Ibehre at the weekend and he may be asked to go again if Sears is ruled out.

Joe Dunne's side have won just once in nine league games, a run which has seen them slip to within two points of the relegation zone.

Shrewsbury boss Mike Jackson must find a replacement for Miles Storey for the game.

The striker's one-month loan came to an end following Saturday's goalless draw at Wolves and his parent club Swindon have ruled out extending the deal.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing could return to the starting line-up after missing out at the weekend with a hamstring problem but Tom Bradshaw is definitely sidelined with a knee injury.

Aaron Wildig (quad) and Luke Summerfield (thigh) may also miss out once more as the relegation-threatened Shrews aim to build on the encouraging result at Molineux.
