Walker could boost Colchester

Goalkeeper Sam Walker could return to the Colchester line-up for Tuesday's Capital One Cup first-round tie with Reading after he missed Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Blackpool due to a knee injury.

Recent signing Darren Ambrose is again likely to start after marking his debut by scoring Saturday's equaliser.

"We'll take the positives out of it, we created chances and we just need to be a bit more clinical," said manager Tony Humes of the weekend draw.

"We should have won it in the end on the balance of the second half but we could have been out of it in the first half."

Reading will still be without winger Garath McCleary, who sustained a calf injury playing for Jamaica at the Gold Cup.

Striker Pavel Pogrebnyak and teenage winger Tariqe Fosu are carrying knocks which forced them to miss Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Birmingham and remain doubtful, while Jake Cooper, Niall Keown and Jack Stacey are ruled out through injury.

Ali Al Habsi may get a run-out in goal after fellow summer signing Jonathan Bond got the nod for the season opener at St Andrew's.

Left-back Andrew Taylor could be handed his debut following his season-long loan switch from Wigan.
