Colchester midfielder Alex Gilbey a doubt for visit of Peterborough

Colchester midfielder Alex Gilbey is doubtful with a groin problem ahead of the visit of Peterborough.

Tom Lapslie came off the bench to replace Gilbey during the first half of the win at Blackpool last weekend, so could come into the starting XI, while defender Leo Chambers has recovered from a hamstring problem.

Defender Alex Wynter returned to action for the first time since injuring his head in the FA Cup tie against Tottenham with a run-out for the under-21s against Millwall, so could soon be back in first-team contention.

Striker Marvin Sordell and midfielder Sammie Szmodics are also still recovering following ankle surgery, while defender George Elokobi continues his recovery from a leg injury.

Peterborough will be without striker Tom Nichols because of a knee injury.

Nichols scored on his debut after signing from Exeter at the start of February, but is now not expected back again until pre-season after limping out of the closing stages of the home defeat by Rochdale.

Shaquile Coulthirst could be in contention for a place in the starting XI having come off the bench last weekend.

Defender Jack Baldwin and Chris Forrester returned to the side following fitness issues, and should continue.
