Trio in line for U's starts

Colchester's new striker signings Chris Porter and Jack Marriott and defender Matthew Briggs are expected to be included in the squad for the home game against Leyton Orient.

Porter signed an 18-month deal on Thursday after his contract at Sheffield United was cancelled, while Marriott will stay with the U's until the end of the season following his arrival on loan from from Ipswich this week. Briggs arrives on loan from Millwall.

Defender Alex Gilbey, an unused substitute in last week's home defeat to Walsall, is hoping to make his first appearance in over six weeks after recovering from an ankle injury.

Colchester, third from bottom and two points from safety, have lost their last five home league matches.

Winger Ryan Hedges and defender Neal Eardley could their Orient debuts.

Boss Fabio Liverani moved for duo on loan with the O's in the midst of another injury crisis.

Dean Cox and Elliot Omozusi are struggling with hip injuries, Romain Vincelot has a thigh problem and Jobi McAnuff is out with ankle trouble.

Adam Legzdins, Jay Simpson, Marvin Bartley and Lloyd James remain on the sidelines but Darius Henderson is close to returning after a foot injury.
