Roger Johnson and Diego Poyet could play after rejoining Charlton
Charlton can hand second debuts to Roger Johnson and Diego Poyet against Colchester.
Defender Johnson, who had a spell at The Valley last season, has rejoined on an 18-month deal and midfielder Poyet is back on loan from West Ham.
The returning duo boost a Charlton squad beset by injuries to Ademola Lookman, Patrick Bauer, Alou Diarra, Igor Vetokele and Ahmed Kashi.
To add to their problems, Tareiq Holmes-Dennis is suspended following his red card in the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Colchester are expected to hand goalkeeper Jake Kean his debut after he signed on a month-long loan from Premier League Norwich.
Defender George Elokobi is a major doubt after picking up a hamstring injury in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Oldham, which ended a run of nine successive League One defeats.
New manager Kevin Keen could bring Alex Wynter in at centre-back, while Matthew Briggs (chest) will be assessed.
Midfielder Owen Garvan is pressing for a start, while veteran Darren Ambrose will be hoping to face his old club.
