Colchester beat Bradford for fourth straight win

In-form Colchester United secured a fourth successive victory after beating Bradford City 2-0 at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Bradford's James Hanson fired a great chance wide at the far post early on, after keeper Jamie Jones had parried Billy Knott's cross-shot into his path.

But Colchester took a seventh-minute lead through Callum Harriott, who collected possession in the area and drove in a low shot which squirmed under Brad Jones' body and in.

The Us doubled their lead just after the half-hour when Marvin Sordell stroked the ball past Jones from Owen Garvan's run and clever pass.

Sordell's nonchalant effort from just inside the Bradford half dipped just over on the stroke of half-time as Colchester went in at the break ahead.

Bradford midfielder Tony McMahon went close with a free-kick just after the hour but at the other end, Jones pushed away Sordell's fierce low effort.

McMahon rattled the underside of the bar late on for Bradford but Colchester saw the game out to claim another win.
