Jacob Murphy at the double as Coventry win at Colchester

Jacob Murphy bagged a brace as Coventry City won 3-1 at Colchester United to record their third straight league win.

Jim O'Brien fired into the side netting for Coventry before Colchester took a 17th-minute lead through Macauley Bonne, who tapped in from twoy ards from Callum Harriott's superb low cross.

Coventry keeper Reice Charles-Cook saved George Moncur's free-kick while Colchester striker Marvin Sordell's low shot struck the inside of a post and rolled along the line.

But Coventry equalised just after the half-hour through former Colchester loanee Murphy, who finished well after Tom Eastman had blocked Marc Antoine-Fortune's low cross.

And the Sky Blues went in at half-time ahead when Murphy pounced on Frankie Kent's slip to bag his second of the game, following a quick free-kick.

Coventry extended their lead less than four minutes after the break through Antoine-Fortune, who tapped in after keeper Jamie Jones had fumbled Ruben Lameiras' low cross into his path.

Charles-Cook denied Colchester substitute Gavin Massey late on, as Coventry sealed a deserved victory.
