Colchester 0-0 Yeovil: Match Report

11 December 2010 23:16
Dogged Glovers thwart Colchester Struggling Yeovil produced a battling performance to hold promotion-chasing Colchester United to a goalless draw at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. The first half was an uneventful affair which Yeovil shaded but lacked an end product to their play. Former Colchester player Adam Virgo saw his long-range free-kick saved by U's goalkeeper Ben Williams, while Nathan Smith's 30-yard blockbuster flashed inches wide for the Glovers. Kayode Odejayi headed over from a corner for the home side and Anthony Wordsworth poked wide from close range before the break. It was a similar story in the second half, with very little in the way of goalmouth action. Colchester went agonisingly close when Odejayi saw his close-range effort tipped onto the crossbar brilliantly by Yeovil goalkeeper John Sullivan. And at the other end, Ben Williams palmed over Smith's fine long-range shot and then made a superb save to deny Glovers substitute Adam Phillip in stoppage-time but neither side could break the deadlock.
