Baldwin faces race against time

Colchester will check on defender Pat Baldwin ahead of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy visit of Wycombe. The long-serving defender has missed the last three matches with a foot injury and will be handed a late fitness test. Marc Tierney is on the sidelines after suffering a dislocated shoulder last week so Bristol City loanee Tom Williams should continue at left-back after making his debut in Saturday's 1-1 draw with MK Dons. Right-back Brian Wilson is still missing with an ankle injury, meaning John White keeps his place. Boss John Ward may opt to give striker Steven Gillespie his first start of the season. Gillespie has been out since the summer with an ankle problem but has appeared on the bench in recent weeks. Midfielder John-Joe O'Toole and defender Morten Knudsen (both knee) remain long-term absentees.
