Baldwin begins new deal talks
Lambert wants the 26-year-old centre-half, who arrived from Chelsea seven years ago, to put pen to paper and extend his successful stay in Essex.
"Pat has been terrific this season for me and has given me everything, even when he has played with injuries," said Lambert.
"We are doing our best to keep him at the club and discussions have already taken place concerning a new contract."
