Holmes comfort for 10-man Alloa

Alloa overcame the first-half sending off of Fraser Forrest to hold on for a 1-0 victory at Clyde and remain on the coattails of league leaders Annan.

Graeme Holmes gave Alloa the lead after just two minutes, mopping up the rebound from close range after Kevin Cawley`s shot had come back off a post.

Cawley threatened on two more occasions before Steven Masterton forced Clyde goalkeeper Filip Mentel to make a parrying save.

Alloa looked comfortable but Forrest, booked after 20 minutes for deliberate handball, received a second yellow card for the same offence 12 minutes later and was sent off.

The chances dried up for Paul Hartley`s team but Alloa were also keeping it tight at the other end.

Mentel saved from Ryan McCord before Clyde had a chance to snatch a point late on, but Jack Sloss shot over from 12 yards out.
