Chivas USA sack coach after slow start

Jose Luis Sanchez Sola has been sacked as coach of Major League Soccer outfit Chivas USA after a poor start to the season which has seen them record just three wins and two draws in 12 matches.

The club announced on their website late on Wednesday that they and Sanchez Sola had "mutually agreed to part ways" with Chivas lying bottom of the Western Conference and having conceded a league-high 24 goals.

Chivas USA have not won any of their last seven matches, losing six and drawing one.

As a result, their ticket sales have been the worst in the league, with average gates below 10,000.

Chivas have replaced him with Jose Luis Real, the sporting development director for Chivas of Guadalajara, the Mexican side which guides the Los Angeles-based MLS entry.

"His experience and knowledge of the organization will be key to continue moving forward," the club statement said of Real.
