The Portuguese coach of the Chinese Super League club in Beijing has been banned for eight matches and fined 40,000 yuan ($6,150) for an obscene gesture, the football association said.

Jaime Pacheco was fined for gesturing with his middle finger after being expelled from a heated match between Beijing Guoan and Tianjin Teda in the Chinese capital on Sunday, the Chinese football association announced.

Pacheco had been sent off after arguing with the referee and confronting a Tianjin coach, match reports said.

The two teams, which have a fierce rivalry due to their close geographic proximity, fought to a 1-1 draw in the match.

Beijing is currently in second place in the league standings behind leader Guangzhou Evergrande, while Tianjin is mired in eighth place.
