Striker Martin Gritton settled a tight encounter with a neat curling shot after the break to clinch the points against a tired-looking Bees outfit.
"We are on a great run and this will do our confidence no end of good. This is a difficult place to come but I thought we were magnificent," Richardson said.
The visitors always looked the more likely to stretch their lead, Drew Talbot rounding keeper Ben Hamer only to hit the post.
"We defended well and counterattacked intelligently and I couldn't fault
any aspect of the way we played," Richardson added.
"We need to kick on from here and build on this success and if we do who knows what can happen."
