Ward boost for Spireites

Chesterfield striker Jamie Ward is closing in on a return to the first team after making his first competitive appearance in two months.

The 21-year-old forward has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury during the second game of the season back in August.

But Ward played 60 minutes for the Spireites' second string on Tuesday evening and suffered no adverse reaction.

The former Aston Villa youngster, who joined Chesterfield from Torquay United in January, returned to first-team training last week.
