    Ward blow rocks Spireites

    19 Feb 2007 - 10:52:20

Chesterfield are set to be without recent signing Jamie Ward for well over a month after he suffered a hamstring injury in the 3-0 victory over Port Vale.

The 20-year-old forward joined the Spireites from Torquay United last month and netted his first goal for his new club against Vale, but was forced to leave the field soon after.

Assistant manager Lee Richardson commented: "Football can be cruel at times and Jamie has experienced the highs and lows of football within the space of a few minutes.

"Although it is disappointment this happens in football and we just have to get on with it.

"Losing Jamie will be a blow, because he was bright all afternoon and made his mark with the goal.

"However, there were a lot of positives in that performance and we have also got others waiting for a chance and it's up to them to take it."
