Chesterfield will release striker Val Teixeira after signing former Sheffield United starlet Lee Askham.

Teixeira, 31, will leave Saltergate when his short-term deal expires later this month after making just five substitute appearances for the Spireites.

Meanwhile, former England schoolboy international Askham has agreed a one-month deal with the League Two club.

The 18-year-old has been a free agent since being released by the Blades earlier this year.
