Spireites waiting on Currie

Chesterfield are hopeful of having finally wrapped up the signing of winger Darren Currie in time for Tuesday night's Carling Cup tie at Preston North End. The 33-year-old missed the opening League Two game of the season due to doubts over his eligibility following his arrival from Luton Town, but the Spireites are content that Currie will soon officially be their player. Spireites boss Lee Richardson told the club's official website: "The club took the decision that until everything was sorted 100 per cent it was not worth taking any risks and that has now proved a sensible decision in view of the result at Barnet. "We are hopeful the matter will be sorted in time for Darren to be included in the squad for the Carling Cup tie at Preston on Tuesday night."
