Spireites to land Montrose

Chesterfield boss Lee Richardson is confident of landing Lewis Montrose on a permanent basis in the summer.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who is currently recovering from a knee injury, has made 11 appearances for the Spirietes during a loan spell at Saltergate from Wigan Atheltic.

"We've got an agreement in principle to sign him so we're hopeful of finalising a deal," said Richardson. "We're hopeful that the deal will be a permanent one.

"We're hopeful Lewis will be training with us next week so he should be available for the final match of the season against Bradford City. He's done well. We think he's a player with good potential."
