Spireites snap up Montrose

Chesterfield have signed Wigan Athletic midfielder Lewis Montrose on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has made just two senior appearances for the Latics to date, but is hoping to gain valuable experience during his time at Saltergate.

He told the club's official website: "I am pleased to be joining Chesterfield and am looking forward to playing my part in getting the side into the play-offs by the end of the season."

Montrose has previously spent time on loan with both Rochdale and Cheltenham Town.
