Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson was downcast after seeing his side's play-off hopes ended by a 1-1 draw with Darlington.

The stalemate left the Spireites with nothing to play for in their final two games, with Richardson upset that his side had again thrown away a lead heading into the closing stages of a game.

He said: "Darlington's set-up was to try and frustrate us. We got the lead and, as has happened on nine occasions this season, we threw a lead away within the last half-hour of the second half.

"It was a massive disappointment to concede when we did and I don't think that Barry Roche had a save to make in the game.

"I was confident that we would go on and get more goals, but after they equalised we were trying to make something out of nothing."
