Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson is hopeful Jack Lester will be fit for Saturday's derby clash with Mansfield Town.
The 32-year-old's 15 goals this season make Lester the club's top-scorer, but he has been sidelined since picking up an ankle injury last month.
"I am hopeful he will make Saturday but I can't say for definite that he will play," said Richardson.
"It would not be fair to give our supporters the impression that he was certain to play only for them to arrive at the ground to find out that he wasn't in the starting line-up."
