Spireites close on new boss

Chesterfield will reveal the identity of their new manager next week after calling a press conference for Tuesday June 9.

The Spireites, who were taken over by former Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dave Allen last month, have been without a manager since parting company with Lee Richardson at the end of the season.

Allen has promised fans an 'exciting' future and the move to a new stadium after targeting Championship football within three years.

Former Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood is believed to be one of the frontrunners for the Saltergate job, along with former Oldham Athletic manager John Sheridan.
