Spireites off the top

Chesterfield crashed to a second straight home defeat as Oxford staged a fightback to end a five game losing run with a 2-1 win. Ian Morris scored for the first time in nearly two years to give Chesterfield an early lead but Steve MacLean and Tom Craddock struck in the second half to turn the game. Chesterfield's early pressure paid off in the 14th minute when Oxford failed to get the ball clear and Morris scored with a low shot from just outside the box. Craig Davies should have added a second but headed wide three minutes before half-time and the visitors hit back early in the second half. Maclean crossed deep to the back post where Craddock beat Tommy Lee with a downward header. MacLean pounced from close range in the 69th minute when Craddock and Simon Heslop pulled apart the home defence. Chesterfield piled on the pressure and Simon Ford hit the bar but Oxford deservedly held on.
