Chesterfield have signed striker Craig Davies on a free transfer from Brighton. The 24-year-old joins John Sheridan`s side on a one-year deal after agreeing a settlement for the remaining year of his contract at Brighton. Davies arrived at Albion with an impressive goal scoring record at Oldham and Stockport but was unable to reproduce it on the south coast and spent much of last season on loan at Port Vale, where he scored in a 5-0 win against Chesterfield in March. A statement said: "On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to thank Craig for his efforts during his time here and wish him well for the future."
