Chesterfield chief executive Carol Wilby believes being part of England`s Under-21 European Championship bid is exciting for the town and surrounding area. The Spireites` new b2net Stadium is one of five grounds in the midlands area, along with Wembley, that has been selected to hosts matches should England be successful in its attempt to bring the tournament to these shores for the first time in 2013. The Football Association are this week showing UEFA delegates around the midlands locations as they conduct a technical inspection which will form the basis of a report on the quality of infrastructure, stadia, transport and hotels. "Along with the FA we have been delighted to welcome the delegates from UEFA as part of their week-long technical inspection visit to assess England's bid to host the UEFA 2013 Under-21 European Championship finals," said Wilby. "The chance to host European football at the b2net Stadium is not only a very exciting proposition for the football club but it will also be a real boost to Chesterfield and North Derbyshire." England are competing against Bulgaria, Israel and the Czech Republic for the right to host the competition. A decision will be made by UEFA in December.
