Chesterfield midfielder Gregor Robertson is set to miss most of the rest of the season after suffering a broken leg in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy loss to Carlisle United.
The 25-year-old was injured in a challenge with the Cumbrians' Tom Taiwo and was stretchered off and taken to hospital for treatment.
Assistant manager Tommy Wright admitted: "I think it's a bad break. We'll give him the best support we can but, at this moment in time, it doesn't look good.
"It looked like a pretty innocuous challenge, but it looks like a pretty bad break and our thoughts are with him.
"They are trying to make him comfortable and he will probably require surgery on Wednesday."
