Sheridan keen on Spireites

Former Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan is one of 50 applicants for the vacant managerial position at Chesterfield. The Spireites recently dispensed with Lee Richardson's services after missing out on a play-off place, but hope to name a new manager next week. Former Republic of Ireland international Sheridan left Oldham in March after spending three years in charge at Boundary Park. Others men linked with the job include former Burnley manager Steve Cotterill, ex-Stockport County boss Jim Gannon and Andy Ritchie who has had spells in charge of Barnsley and Huddersfield Town.
