Sheridan delighted with battling victory

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan felt his side were worthy winners as they consigned Lincoln to a 2-1 defeat.Goals from Dwayne Mattis and Craig Davies put the Spireites in the box seat and although Ben Hutchinson pulled a goal back for the Imps, Sheridan's side held on to move up to third. He said: "I know the match would be like it was because they are organised and solid and they get men behind the ball so we knew it would be difficult."I said to the lads to be patient and they did make it hard work for us but we got the breakthrough when Dean (Morgan) played a great ball in and Dwayne (Mattis) did what he does well, he gets across people and put a great glancing header in the bottom corner."Once we got the goal then obviously they've got to come out a bit which opened them up more and I think we well deserved to win the game."The ball from Jack (Lester) for the second goal was quality, it was a great touch from Craig (Davies) and a great finish. But I thought as a team we played really well."
