Sheridan's side rarely threatened Wayne Brown's goal until Wade Small tapped in a consolation a minute from time.
"I'm not pleased with the way we played but the conditions were very difficult," said Sheridan.
"I thought up until the first goal it was pretty even. I don't think there was a lot of quality.
"I don't know why that was. It could have been the conditions of the pitch. I don't think we ever got going."
