Sheridan praises attacking duo

Craig Davies might have been Chesterfield's matchwinner in the 2-1 victory over Wycombe, but boss John Sheridan reserved plaudits for two of his attacking colleagues. Welsh striker Davies struck either side of Ben Strevens' equaliser for Wycombe to send the Spireites to the top of League Two. Veteran forward Jack Lester came off the bench to set up Davies' winner and Jordan Bowery performed dutifully as his strike partner all afternoon, leaving Sheridan full of praise for the duo. "Jack Lester made an impact and he looks bright when he comes on for a 35-year-old," said the former Oldham boss. "I'm pleased with my players and whoever comes off the bench is making a contribution. "Jordan Bowery did very well in the reserves and I think he's improving all the time. He just needs to believe in himself more than anything else because I think he's got the ability to have a good career." Sheridan conceded that it is a nice perk to see his side at the top of the league, but he will not be allowing his players to get carried away at this early stage of the season. "It will be nice to pick the papers up and see ourselves at the top. I've told them to go and have a beer and enjoy themselves while we're at the top. We won't get carried away after this game even though I think it is our best result this season."
